To make your first smoothie, all you would need is some fresh green leafy veggies like spinach, some sweet fruits like banana or kiwi, water or unsweetened liquids like almond milk and optionally some flavor such as coco.
Choose an unsweetened liquid (1.5 cups). Almond milk, soy milk, coconut water without sugar or just plain water. You may also use citrus fruit juice if you do not mind your smoothies are not so sweet tasting.
Get a handful of fresh greens such as spinach, tops of carrots, beets or radishes …) , Kale, leaves of celery etc, Don’t worry, you won’t have the bitter taste of the vegetables if you follow the instructions correctly.
Choose a fresh fruit cut into small pieces (1 or 2 cups): Banana is the fruit that is most often used in green smoothies, for its creaminess. I advise you to start with this fruit if you are a beginner. You can also try other sweet fruits such as mango, raspberries, strawberries, pear, peach, melon, or apple. It all depends on your taste, your desires and of course the season.
To add a Boost your smoothie you can use 1 to 2 gm of chia seeds, sesame seeds, vegetable protein powder, avocado puree, coconut oil, hazelnut puree, almond or peanut powder, pollen, cinnamon, ginger, etc. These super-foods, as they are called, will boost the nutritious power of your smoothie.
Optionally, you may add a healthy sweetener – about 1 cc of of stevia, agave syrup, Mashed dates, manioc syrup, birch, etc. Please do not use white sugar.

Spinach Kiwi Banana Smoothie Recipe for Beginners
Spinach Kiwi Banana Smoothie
- 1 Ripe Banana cut into small chunks
- 1 Handful of Fresh spinach leaves
- 2 Kiwis peeled and cut into small pieces
- 2 tbsp Coconut cream
- 1 cup plain water to thin the coconut cream
- 1 Lemon juiced (optional)
Put all the above ingredients in a mixer or blender and blend on high for about a minute, until you get smooth and creamy consistency.
